An early interest and talent in multiple artistic & creative mediums led Leslie to a long time career in graphic arts, printing and advertising production, client service management and operations oversight.
Generations of her father’s family had been involved in decorative fields. Leslie’s father was self employed, a well respected owner of a decor/wall covering company in Nassau County on Long Island, NY. She often assisted him on projects as a young woman, eager to learn the nuances of his work, marveling at his technique, his confidence in his abilities. He inspired Leslie to work diligently, to give the client more than expected with attention to detail, to take pride in the art of the craft.
While exploring new art mediums, Leslie was introduced to authentic Italian limestone plasters. It was appealing to her on so many levels because it was a chance to learn ancient methods of applying slaked lime from the Dolomites. Interest piqued, she researched ways to learn; an initial intensive certification in the U.S., Leslie embarked on advanced training in Italy.
What began as a passion project, led to the formation of a valued partnership and lifelong friendship with a talented artist and pro photographer from Atlanta. A shared vision led to their company, Artisans Consortium International (ACI). ACI grew quickly, and gathered a select group of artisans to create bespoke wall and ceiling finishes nationwide for individual and corporate clients By 2005, Leslie left the print industry for a new company of her own - working on more intimate residential projects on Long Island, NY, still operating in tandem with ACI for larger projects.
In 2007, Leslie began freelancing with a midwest company installing seasonal and holiday displays within conservatories and large public venues. A perfect way to indulge her love of plants and florals, to use her eye for color and design in dimensional ways. In late 2012, she was requested by the founder to become management consultant and Director of the company when he was unable to continue due to his personal health.
A dream opportunity, albeit temporary, Leslie was immersed in every aspect of client contact for nearly a decade- from coordination of contracts, determining concepts for annual themes, acquiring supportive talent, creating and fabricating custom elements to designing with plants and tropicals, sourcing, researching and ultimately installations of major annual, seasonal events throughout the US and Canada.
In late 2019, it was time to move forward in new directions and Leslie’s vision is set toward a fresh incarnation of her work, more aligned than ever, with her personal & artistic passions.
